Tips on ordering a new boat
Here are some points to keep in mind when purchasing a new boat.
●Building the boat takes at least Three months
Building a ship requires a certain amount of preparation.
Which class? How many? Where to deliver? How will it be fitted? Who will pay? What items will be ordered along? After determining various conditions, we conclude a sales contract.
Please keep in mind that it usually takes at least 3 months to build your boat after the sales contract is signed. The delivery date may vary depending on other orders we have at the time.
The sooner you contact us, the better we can prepare, and we may be able to give you some advice.
●Orders are concentrated in certain times of the year
Biggest costomer of PMJ boats are university sailing clubs. This university sailing club, which is affiliated with the "Gakuren", holds regional tournaments and all-Japan tournaments from late September to early November. After these regatta, during the winter time, University students begin to plan the schedule for the new school year and decide on the club's policies. Often times they order a new boat after those plans are fixed.
According to this schedule, Orders starts coming in around March.
If you can place your order at the beginning of this order rush, you will be able to get your new boat from around June, but since orders from other people are also coming in at the same time, and your order is delayed. There is a possibility that the new boat will not arrive at the desired timing.
You may regret it if you don't have a boat at the time you need it. It's important to move earlier.
●PMJ's factory is temperature/humidity controlled
It is often said that boats built in winter when the air is dry are good; boats built during the rainy season (June) when the air is humid are not good. This may be true, so PMJ has Air conditioning system throughout our factory. This makes no difference between each seasons the boats are made. Also, to accelerate the curing of the resin used in the manufacturing process, Electric furnace heats the entire boat.
Furthermore, depending on which season the resin is manufactured the composition may differ. This allows the chemical reaction to occure uniformly and cured evenly in hot summers and cold winters. Therefore, there is no need to worry about differences in performance between each boats depending on when they were manufactured.
●Getting a quote dose not mean you have ordered
The quote is only an indication of the amount. Even after a quotation has been submitted, it is normal for you to cancel or change the details. In that sense, please request a quotation first.
However, this alone will not make us build boats. You need to place an order or let us know you have a will to buy the boat we have made quote for. After that, we will send you a sales contract, so please sign and seal it and send it back. Only after this point will the purchase be finalized.
